Dr. Stephen P. "Steve" Dixon, 51, passed away on April 29, 2008 in his Colorado Springs home. He was born on May 3, 1956 to William P. and Mary Jean (Fogarty) Dixon in Casper, Wyoming; he was one of 8 children. Dr. Dixon received his undergraduate degree from Regis College in Denver before continuing on at Bradley University in Illinois for his Masters and then Georgia State University for his PhD in Clinical Psychology. After leaving college he pursued a clinical career and maintained a private family practice. He was also a published author. Of his many accomplishments, Steve always said that his children were his greatest. Steve was a devoted father who made attending his children's extracurricular activities and supporting their pursuits his highest priority. He was seen at every hockey game, swim meet, recital and play and his children will always remember him as their biggest fan. He achieved a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and was a member of the American Psychological Association and the Knights of Columbus. Steve was an avid Colorado sports enthusiast, loved golfing, and had recently undertaken teaching himself how to ice skate. He was a devoted Catholic, dedicated to serving those around him and gave back to his community through his practice and time. His life inspired and touched all around him. Steve leaves behind three daughters: ENS Erin M. Dixon, US Coast Guard, Mrs. Emily J. Dixon (husband Kristopher Peterson) and Margaret "Molly" J. Dixon; son William "Billy" M. Dixon; mother Mary Jean Dixon; five brothers: William T. (wife Annabel), John F. (wife Helen), Dennis J. (wife Olivia), Timothy J. and Thomas M. (wife Patti) Dixon; sister Anne M. Before he became a college professor at the age of 43, he worked as a school bus driver, a bartender, a systems analyst, an artist’s model, a middle school teacher, a department store clerk, and a reporter in Washington, D.C., where he interviewed John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Nikita Khrushchev, and L.B.J., among others. He taught at Johns Hopkins University for 27 years. He is the author of 18 novels and 17 short story collections and published over 600 stories in his lifetime. He was a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and two National Endowment of the Arts grants. This study aimed to determine temporal trends in the incidence of malignant appendiceal tumours within England and a possible influence by demographic factors. All incident cases of appendiceal tumours in patients aged 20 years and above were identified from the National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service database between 1995 and 2016 using ICD-9/10 codes. Cancers were categorized according to histology. Joinpoint regression analysis was used to investigate changes in age-standardized incidence rates by age, sex, histological subtype and index of multiple deprivation quintiles, based on socioeconomic domains (income, employment, education, health, crime, barriers to housing and services and living environment).
