April 1, 1966 was the birth of this unit, it consisted of 40 Air Force Officers and Enlisted men and was located at Wright Patterson AFM, Ohio. Its Mission was to oversee the deployment and operation of all Prime BEEF (emergency construction) teams and RED HORSE (400 man engineering and construction) Squadrons operating in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam war. I was the NCOIC of the Field Engineering Branch at that time. It was later changed to the Civil Engineering Center and expanded and added civilian engineers to its organization. It is now the Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency, located at Tyndall AFB, Florida, and still oversees the Prime BEEF and RED HORSE operation world wide in addition to many other duties.
