New Berlin Yoga Center reawakens in Lewisburg's Miller Center The Integral Yoga Center of Pa, formerly of New Berlin, is offering its membership a new home at The Miller Center in Lewisburg. After closing its doors in New Berlin in February, The board of directors and volunteers approached the The Miller Center for space and coordination of schedules. “There is a small but devoted group of members of the center who want to remain connected with each other and Integral Yoga,” shared Jim Mathias, former New Berlin center board member, and current Board president of The Miller Center. Mathias continued, “It made sense to work with The Miller Center, another nonprofit, to keep the cost of yoga the lowest in the area.” Matt Hackenberg, New Berlin center board member, said that one challenge affecting membership and keeping the center open was geography. “We opened when really no one else was offering yoga. That has changed and although we are sorry to close in New Berlin, we feel great about Integral Yoga finding a home where it’s easier for more people to attend.” Integral Yoga classes are 60 to 90 minutes in length, include asanas (poses), a brief meditation, deep relaxation and breathing practices, and are additional to what was already being offered at The Miller Center. A niche within the larger mind-body wellness community of The Miller Center is how Mathias describes the yoga that has transitioned from New Berlin. “The medical community and more people every day understand that exercise and mind-body practices such as yoga can prevent medical problems. Mind-body wellness at The Miller Center is a focus, and expanding. Moving what began in New Berlin in spirit and practice to The Miller Center made perfect sense.”
