Treating lumber for over 25 years Georgia Wood was organized in 1974 by its founder and president, William H. Hall, Sr. Hall, who most friends call "Billy," began his career in the lumber business in 1950 by cutting tracts of timber with his business partner A.E. "Bub" Wisham. Together they operated Wisham and Hall Lumber Company in Crawfordville, Ga. for many years. Georgia Wood Preserving has been producing quality Osmose brand pressure treated lumber for over 25 years. As we turn the page to a new century, we will continue to provide the quality product our customers expect at a competitive price the market demands. In the early 1970s, Hall formed Georgia Wood Preserving in an effort to tap into a surging market for treated lumber. The treating plant was built with the assistance and cooperation of Osmose Wood Preserving. Osmose, based in Griffin, Ga., manufactures the chemical Georgia Wood uses in its pressure treatment process. For several years, Hall ran both the treating plant at Georgia Wood and the lumber mill at Wisham and Hall. By this time, Wisham had retired and was no longer a part of the business. In the early 1980s, Hall closed Wisham and Hall Lumber Co. and concentrated his efforts squarely on the treating business. At age 76, he still governs the day to day operations of the company. In the fall of 1999, Georgia Wood held a celebration to commemorate the company's 25th anniversary. Hall was on hand to personally thank customers and employees who have continued to make the company a success.

Sunbelt forest products expands with acquisition · Posted by Jessica; on October 22, 2020 · Posted by Jessica; on October 22, 2020 · 2020; in Press Release. Sunbelt Forest Products Expands With Acquisition Of Wood Treatment Plant In North Georgia BARTOW, FL (October 22, 2020) – Sunbelt Forest Products, a leading manufacturer of pressure treated lumber in the Southeastern U.S., recently expanded its operations with the purchase of Babb Lumber in Ringgold, Georgia. The acquisition adds a fifth wood treating plant to the Bartow, Florida-based operation with other holdings in Rockledge, Fla., Athens, Ala., and Louisville, Ala. At peak production, Sunbelt Forest products can now treat in excess of 635 million board feet annually. “Because of the increased demand for treated lumber during the Covid-19 pandemic, Sunbelt Forest Products contracted with Babb Lumber to supplement its supplies,” said Ken DelleDonne, president of Sunbelt Forest Products. “That venture was so successful we made arrangements to purchase the plant from the Babb family.” The Ringgold location will add 10 additional team members and 35 million feet of treating capacity for the manufacturer, allowing Sunbelt Forest Products to better serve north Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky. David Babb will continue to serve as plant manager. Babb Lumber was established in Ringgold in 1953 as Babb & Sons Lumber Company by Walter W. Babb and his sons, Herchel and Jack Babb. Their family expanded the original business, adding machinery, dry kilns and pressure treating plants. “This growth is exciting and will allow us to better serve our customers at Sunbelt Forest Products,” said Howe Q. Wallace Jr., President and CEO of PalletOne, Inc. “We look forward to the successful integration of the Ringgold operation into Sunbelt.”
