June 22, 1981 — July 11, 2024 On July 11, 2024, our family and the world lost a very special angel. On that evening, Alyson…Aly…Corrao left us suddenly and unexpectedly. She left behind, along with unimaginable sadness and loss, a unique legacy of kindness, unselfishness, optimism, wit and beauty. In her too brief life, Aly dealt, cheerfully and courageously, with enough challenges to daunt any young woman. She also wore her many accomplishments modestly. An honors high school student at St. Andrews Academy, Aly went on to graduate from Mitchell College in Human Services, after which she briefly lived in Colorado while serving in AmeriCorps. Upon her return to Rhode Island, her life-long career as a Medical Assistant began. Loving and beloved by her patients and co-workers, she was a popular and treasured member of the staff of Brigham & Women’s Pulmonary Associates (formerly University Pulmonary Associates) of East Greenwich where she practiced until the day of her passing. Aly was joyously fervent about so many aspects of living, from her extraordinary collection of Nike sneakers, to her all-consuming love of sports. Basketball was a passion for her entire 4’10” life. Too short to play in high school, Aly was a team manager. She considered herself a URI pseudo-alum, holding season basketball tickets for all the years of her working life. There was no sport un-loved by Aly; football (Brady and the Patriots especially), soccer, gymnastics, tennis…Aly not only followed them all and loved them all, but also never forgot a player, stat or team.
